Our Story

Why we left Melbourne (yes, really) and moved back to NZ.

We know what you’re thinking: “Wait, you moved from Melbourne… back to New Zealand? On purpose?”.

Yes. Yes, we did. While most people seem to be sprinting across the ditch in search of bigger cities, bigger salaries, and way more brunch options, we found ourselves doing the exact opposite — and we’ve never been happier.

Don’t get us wrong, we loved our time in Melbourne. It’s a vibrant city with endless laneways, amazing creative energy, and coffee so good it practically deserves its own passport. But after years of juggling the hustle and bustle, raising kids in a city where traffic jams are considered a sport, and enduring three years of covid lockdowns, we started craving something different.

We wanted lifestyle. Space. Fresh air. A backyard that didn’t involve a parking permit. We wanted our kids to grow up with redbands on their feet, not devices in their hands. And we missed whānau. Grandparents, cousins, siblings - the whole wonderful crew. Sunday roasts hit different when you don’t need to fly across the Tasman to attend them.

So we packed up the kids, the camera gear, and our coffee machine, and made the move home to the Waikato. And you know what? New Zealand coffee absolutely holds its own. Sorry Melbourne, but we'll take Raglan Roast over a Brunswick cold drip any day.

Now we’re living the dream - running BWRM from our lifestyle block on the outskirts of Cambridge, working with amazing local clients, and capturing the beauty of Aotearoa’s homes, one listing at a time.

So for all those fellow kiwis who questioned our sanity and asked us whether the grass really is greener back home… we can confirm: it’s not just green, it’s peaceful, grounding, and full of possibility (and bloody good flat whites).
